Ramp Riot: The Event of the East

On November 8, Wissahickon Robotics held their 9th annual Ramp Riot, an off-season competition held in Wissahickon’s own high school gymnasium. 35 teams came to battle it out one last time before the new season begins. As team members were setting up the field for the competition the day before, the crew of NBC’s “The 10! Show”, a local Philadelphia morning show, came to film Miss Daisy and inform the public about the event. On the day of the competition, 2500 community members came out to enjoy this environment of friendly competition. And this year, for the first time, our media team webcasted the event, reaching over 3,000 viewers!

This year at Ramp Riot, in addition to the regular competition, 341 worked with local Girl Scouts to hold the first-ever “Girls In Gear” program to get young girls interested in science and technology. About 70 Girl Scouts attended, and 341 members along with women working in technology-related career fields had the opportunity to speak with them.
