2000 Robot, "Tom Servo"

Tom ServoTom was our first robot. The tough little machine that started it all. Tom made the playoffs at Philly in 2000 and was a major reason why we won the 2000 Philadelphia Alliance Regional "Rookie All-Star Award." These days, Tom mostly serves as a test platform and driver training machine. He also sees some duty as a classroom demonstrator.

2000 Game, CO-OPERTITION FIRST

Teams are first separated into alliances of two. All four robots start on the same end of the field. In the center of the field, there is an 8-foot wide ramp with a bar 5 feet above it. On either side of this structure are the red and blue alliances' corresponding goals. The goal is a hopper raised 6 feet above the ground in which the robots must place 13" rubber balls. There are a total of 29 yellow balls and four black ones. Each player station begins with 7 yellow balls and one black ball for use by the teams' human players. Along the opposite end of the field are the remaining 15 yellow balls and 2 black balls.

At the end of the game, any yellow ball that is entirely supported by the goal is worth 1 point. Black balls are worth 5 points. Additionally, any robot suspended by the raised bar in the center of the field at the end of the match is worth 10 bonus points. To receive the 10-point bonus, a robot does not necessarily have to be touching the bar, but cannot be touching the ground or the ramp.
