November 2003
To the Friends and Supporters of Team 341:
Thank you for all of your help putting together Ramp Riot 2003, which is
now one of the largest and best attended robotics competitions on the East
Coast. For the 4th year in a row we have pulled off a flawless event
with many positive outcomes. A special note of thanks goes out to Rohm &
Haas, NASA, BAE Systems, FIRST, Drexel University, Y-100 and our partners
the North Montco Technical Career Center.
Here are just a few of the results:
1) 26 Teams representing about 800 students came to the Wissahickon Circle
Gym to battle it out in the arena, dance on the sidelines and contribute
to charity.
2) Hundreds more school age kids from the surrounding area came
to watch our event and get excited about Math, Science and Technology.
3) 1200 food cans were collected and delivered to the Ambler Community Cupboard
while the competition was still in progress.
4) Teams also contributed used sporting goods equipment for Second Bounce,
a student charity project.
4) Event spectators were thrilled by Segway Human Transport demonstrations.
5) Y-100 gave away prizes for 2 hour.
6) The team announced the winner of an Apple i-Pod. The winning
ticket was held by a patron of the NBC-10 Tech Expo which we attended the
previous week.
7) Team 341 also won an award as the 2003 Ramp Riot Finalist.
In all respects it was a great day for the students, schools, sponsors and
the community!! Thank you to everyone that participated. We couldn't
do this without you.
