| Team
in a Box Information and Ordering
The
Team in a Box Project was created in April 2004 in an effort to help
rookie teams and inform anyone interested in starting a FIRST team.
Starting a FIRST Robotics team seems overwhelming when you
begin, but it is well worth the time and effort. This DVD will help
guide you through the different phases of FIRST. In-depth explanations
of the year ahead of you includes what happens when the game is first
released, how to survive the six-week build season, what happens at
a competition, and what to do during the off-season. Team organization
is also important when starting a team. The DVD incorporates how to
arrange team sub-groups, give demonstrations, and how to get parents
involved with the program. After the team is organized, it is time to
get to work. This project offers helpful tips on how to successfully
build a robot and how to prepare award submissions. You will also receive
information about not only the FIRST Robotics Competition, but also
the FIRST Lego League. The interviews integrated into this video will
give you another perspective of FIRST.
In addition to the DVD, the CD provides a resource center for you and
your team to refer to. A sample sponsorship video is made available
to help your team produce one as well. Along with the sponsorship video,
there are documents with tips and guides to help make your experience
with FIRST easier. The third component of this CD is a collection of
templates for common tasks in FIRST. Templates range from scouting databases
to forms that help the head coach organize his or her team. We hope
this DVD and CD will lend a helpful hand to you and to your team.
