Greatest Season Yet for Miss Daisy

Team 341 had a final record of 3-4 in Atlanta. Out of the 85 teams in the Galileo Division, Miss Daisy placed 47th. The standings did not however, reflect the season that this team had. Go back to December with me, if you will.

On the 6th of the month, the team met for the first time to get to know one another to start what would be one heck of a journey. Trust exercises and teamwork were the highlight of the night. There was a very obvious excitement about the 2005 season from as early as that night. The team eagerly awaited the kickoff of Triple Play, which was announced on January 8. Once the game was announced, ideas were flowing from every member of the team and the Daisies took over the Wissahickon High School, staying late nights to build Miss Daisy IV and produce Team in a Box.

The team took their act to Annapolis, MD to compete in the Chesapeake Regional. Although the team did not do so well on the field, finishing in 40th place, Miss Daisy went home with some hardware. Team 341 pulled down the Website Award and for the third year running, was recognized as Regional Chairman’s Award Winners. After coming home to Ambler, PA and catching a quick breath, the team reorganized themselves and headed downtown the following week, to compete in the Philadelphia Regional for the second half of back to back events. The team won yet another trophy here, this time being recognized with the Kleiner-Perkins, Caufield, & Byers Entrepreneurship Award for the team’s business plan. On Saturday, for the first time in regional competition the much anticipated “Royal Daisy” alliance was made in the playoffs as the alliance of teams 304, 341, and 357 battled the number 1 seed in a fight that was too little too late. The last stop on the tour for the 2005 club landed them in Atlanta, Georgia for the Championship Event. Spread thin, having to cover both the FIRST® Robotics Competition and the VEX Challenge, Miss Daisy was seen all over the complex. Along with the great memories of participating in the event, Team 341 was also lucky enough to go home with some hardware. The team was recognized as a National Chairman’s Award Honorable Mention and a Judges Award recipient. Great job to the team and everyone involved with Miss Daisy this season! Special thanks goes out to all of our sponsors. Without your support, Team 341 would not be this successful!
