Team 341 had a busy off-season this past fall. After being crowned Champions at Summer Frenzy, Daisy IV also became a finalist at Duel on the Delaware. In addition, Ramp Riot was a hit while 36 teams battled it out in Wissahickon’s Dome Gym and raised over 1000 cans for the Ambler Food Cupboard. Shortly after Ramp Riot, the team was at it again at NBC10’s Consumer Expo. Along with being on LIVE television, Team 341 was interacting with the community at their booth, giving hundreds of people the chance to drive our FRC® and VEX robots. Once the off-season was coming to an end, Team 341 waited eagerly for the new game to be announced. The 2006 build season has been a success so far. The team bonded well at our annual “Team 341 Night” in December, preparing them for the quickly advancing build season. Once the new game, Aim High, was released, the team went right to work brainstorming designs for Daisy V. Shortly into January, the Daisies welcomed our friends from Singapore. Twenty-five students and five mentors from three schools in Singapore traveled to America, as a part of our new exchange program, to compete at the Delaware VEX Regional. Our Singapore team, Team 46 ” S.M.A.R.T”, took home the THINK Award and the memories of their visit to Wissahickon. Team members continued to work in our shop at Wissahickon High School and also at North Montco Technical Career Center, developing an efficient drive base and shooter. Also, other team members have been hard at work writing award submissions, broadcasting pod casts, making animations, and preparing for competition. Now that week six advances, students are tweaking the programming and any other mechanical problems on the robot in time to test the robot on a full-size field. Soon it will be time for the Daisies to arrive at the Naval Academy to compete at the Chesapeake Regional.
