Miss Daisy Wraps Up Official 2008 Season

The team has returned from the 2008 Championships in Atlanta, an event which brings together the best teams in the world for three days of intense competition.

On the field of play the team had 4 wins and 3 losses, placing 34th out of 85 teams in our division. Off the field our team was honored to win the 2008 National Kleiner-Perkins Entrepreneurship Award. In addition to this, the team was honored at an awards luncheon for being a 2008 National Finalist for the AutoDesk Inventor Award. Two of our team members also won individual Gracious Professionalism Awards for working with an Israeli Team that needed help.

This was a year of amazing international experiences for our team. In addition to working with our Singapore partners, we worked closely with a team from Israel, and started a relationship with 10 schools in New Zealand that are starting FRC® teams.

The Championship was also the ending chapter for our PBS Documentary coverage. The documentary crew followed our team for 4 months from late December meetings right through to the Championship in Atlanta this weekend. The documentary should air nationally in late 2008 or early 2009. Fortunately they happened to catch one of our best seasons ever!

Our 2008 results are below:

  • 2008 Championship Kleiner-Perkins Entrepreneurship Award
  • 2008 Championship Finalist AutoDesk Inventor Award
  • 2008 Philadelphia Regional Chairman’s Award
  • 2008 Philadelphia Regional Champions
  • 2008 Chesapeake Regional Semi-Finalist
  • 2008 Regular Season Record 28 – 9 – 2
